An Embraer 190 passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), operating the Baku-Grozny route, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan.
A press conference regarding the plane crash in Aktau was held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku.
AZAL spokesperson Farid Huseynov stated that there were 5 crew members and 62 passengers, a total of 67 people, on board.
Huseynov noted that among the passengers, 37 were Azerbaijani citizens, 16 were Russian, 6 were Kazakh, and 3 were Kyrgyz citizens.
Azerbaijan Prosecutor General's Office representative Kenan Zeynalov said that preliminary findings indicated 32 people survived the crash and were hospitalized.
