In Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, International Children’s Day on June 1 was celebrated with various cultural events held in parks and public squares.
The celebrations began with the opening ceremony of the 6th International Children’s Folklore Festival “Nariste,” which featured a children’s folklore group from Türkiye. In addition to Türkiye, representatives from Belarus, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Uzbekistan, and the Tuva and Altai autonomous regions of the Russian Federation participated in the festival alongside children’s folklore groups from all regions of Kyrgyzstan.
The festival's gala concert, organized to preserve the cultural heritage of peoples worldwide, promote intercultural dialogue, and support children’s creativity, is scheduled for the evening at Ala-Too Square in Bishkek.
“Children Are the Best Ambassadors of Friendship”
Speaking at the festival’s opening ceremony, Bishkek Mayor Aybek Junushaliyev said:
“In the modern world, culture continues to be one of the most reliable bridges between nations. Children, meanwhile, are the best ambassadors of peace, friendship, and mutual respect.”
President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov also congratulated children on the occasion of International Children’s Day through a special message. In his address, he stated:
“Childhood is the brightest, purest, and happiest period in a person’s life. During this time, children perceive the world with a pure heart, boundless faith, and great dreams. Your joyful laughter, sincere feelings, and dreams brighten our lives and inspire hope for our country's future. Love for the homeland, respect for elders, honesty, kindness, and diligence are the foundations of a strong state. You are the future of this strong state.”
In addition, on the occasion of International Children’s Day, President Japarov, accompanied by Minister of Education and Science Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, visited the homes of 25 orphaned young people who had been provided with housing by the state.
