International Mountain Day was celebrated in Kyrgyzstan.

International Mountain Day, which is observed every year on December 11 by a United Nations General Assembly resolution, was marked in Kyrgyzstan with various events.

According to a statement from the Presidential Administration, a series of events was held between December 2 and 11 under the auspices of President Sadyr Japarov to highlight the strategic importance of the mountains, promote sustainable development, and engage youth, scientists, and civil society in shaping a long-term mountain agenda.

As part of the celebrations, the 7th International Women Directors Film Forum titled

“Mountains, Ecology, Women in Cinema – A Perspective That Changes the Future”

was held on December 2 in Osh, with the support of the OSCE Bishkek Program Office.

The events continued with a roundtable discussion titled

“Preservation of the Kyrgyz Indigenous Horse Breed: Current Challenges and Solutions,”

On December 9, a knowledge competition was held among schools in Bishkek. In addition, seminars on the development of healthcare ecosystems in mountainous regions were organized in Bishkek and Naryn from December 9 to 11.

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, congratulated the people of Kyrgyzstan in his message on the occasion of International Mountain Day.

In his message, Kasymaliev stated:

“May the mountains give us strength, inspiration, and faith in the future. May they remain a symbol of peace, harmony, and a sustainable future for all peoples.”
