The Turkish National Football Team, defeating Austria 2-1 in the round of 16 of the 2024 European Championship, advanced to the quarterfinals, and the players achieved many firsts.
Merih Demiral, Abdülkerim Bardakcı, Kaan Ayhan, Mert Müldür, Ferdi Kadıoğlu, and Barış Alper Yılmaz, who stayed on the field for 90 minutes against Austria, dropped to the ground as soon as the referee blew the final whistle, celebrating their advancement to the quarterfinals on the field.

Nineteen-year-old star Arda Güler, who assisted Merih Demiral's second goal against Austria, made history in the European Football Championship.
Arda Güler became the third player under 20 to score a goal and provide an assist in the European Championship. Wayne Rooney from England and Cristiano Ronaldo from Portugal achieved this in the 2004 tournament.

Mert Günok, who prevented a goal with Baumgartner's header in the extra time of the Austria match, with an 80% save percentage, became the second player after Rüştü Reçber to achieve the highest save percentage in a European Championship for the national team. Rüştü Reçber reached an 85% save percentage in a match at the 2000 European Championship.
- The national team became the third most successful team
By defeating Austria 2-1 and achieving their third victory in their fourth match, the National Football Team became the third most successful team in the tournament. Spain, winning all four games, was the only team to achieve this, while the host Germany, with three wins and one draw, ranked second. The national team defeated Georgia, the Czech Republic, and Austria, with their only loss coming against Portugal in the group stage.
Germany, scoring ten goals in four matches, became the most prolific team in the tournament. Spain, scoring nine goals, was in second place. Turkey, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Austria scored seven goals and shared third place.
