The Media Forum of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Azerbaijan.
The event, organized by the Azerbaijan Agency for Media Development in Baku, was attended by officials, media representatives, and experts from host country Azerbaijan, member states of the OTS — Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan — and observer country the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
As part of the forum, a panel titled:
“Resilient and Preventive Measures Against Rising Global Information Threats in the Modern Era: The Case of the Media Ecosystem of the Turkic States” was held.
The panel emphasized that amid the rapid increase in global information risks and the cross-border spread of disinformation campaigns, strengthening resilience in the media ecosystem of the Turkic states has become a strategic necessity.
Participants underlined the importance of assessing information reliability, improving critical thinking and analytical skills, closely monitoring digital media trends, and building a sustainable, secure media ecosystem among Turkic states.
It was also noted that deepening cooperation in the media field among Turkic states with shared historical and cultural ties, establishing common standards, and encouraging mutual experience sharing are critical for an effective response to current threats.
A second session titled:
“Opportunities for Cooperation Among OTS Member States in the Digital Media Environment” was also held during the forum.
During this session, it was stated that rapid changes in the digital information sphere necessitate the creation of more flexible and trust-based cooperation platforms among OTS countries. The importance of implementing joint digital projects, effectively managing information flow, and strengthening ties among media institutions was highlighted as a factor that could enhance the communication capacity of member states and contribute to the formation of a shared and dynamic media space in the region.
Meanwhile, the 12th meeting of the OTS Media and Information Working Group was also held.
During the meeting, the implementation status of the OTS Action Plan for 2025 was reviewed, and an agreement was reached to update it for 2026.
In addition, participants exchanged views on the draft final declaration of the 7th meeting of OTS ministers and senior officials responsible for media and information, and proposals regarding the time and venue of the next meeting were discussed.
